When most people think of addiction, substance abuse often comes to mind. While that's a common form, people can be addicted to many other things as well.
Take 26-year-old Tristan Weigelt, for example. As a tattoo apprentice, Tristan has become so deeply immersed in body art that he’s covered nearly 95% of his body in ink, leaving very little skin untouched.
Recently, Tristan shared photos showing how he looked just five years ago before his tattoo journey began. The difference is striking, especially when comparing his appearance from 2020 to 2022. The dramatic transformation highlights just how much can change in a few short years.
Despite the drastic change, Tristan has no regrets. He admits it’s strange to look at himself now, but says he feels the same inside as he did before the tattoos.
Tristan also opened up about the pain involved, particularly when getting tattoos on his face and head. Describing the experience as being “scraped with a metal brush,” he said those sessions were some of the most intense, rating the pain at an eight out of ten. Each of those sessions lasted between five and six hours, spread across six days.
While it’s common for people to attach deep meanings to their tattoos, Tristan’s extensive body art doesn’t carry any hidden messages. Instead, it’s simply $50,000 worth of tattoos accumulated over five years.
For those considering getting inked, Tristan offers this advice: “Get what you love and what makes sense to you. I see so many people worrying about whether a tattoo fits their style. If you like it, then get it.”
When it comes to personal transformations, Tristan’s journey truly stands out as one of a kind.
