Woman thinks dog is riddled with bug bites, then realizes they’re bullet holes

A Heartwarming Recovery: The Inspiring Story of Jackson, the English Mastiff

In Seymour, Indiana, a disturbing incident occurred when Hayden Howard noticed something strange about her beloved dog, Jackson, a 100-pound English Mastiff. After a playful afternoon in the backyard, Jackson appeared to have some bug bites, but a closer inspection revealed something far worse.

To Hayden’s shock, Jackson’s skin wasn’t just covered in bumps—it was riddled with holes. It soon became clear that Jackson had been shot multiple times. Distressed, Hayden rushed him to an animal clinic where the vets made a heartbreaking discovery. Upon examining Jackson, they found several BBs and pellets embedded in his body.

“I was in complete shock,” Hayden said. “I couldn’t believe this was happening to my dog.”

The veterinary team quickly got to work. They removed 27 BBs and pellets from Jackson’s body, though they had to leave another 20 where they were lodged. The damage was extensive, with 20 more areas where pellets had hit but bounced off. In total, nearly 70 pellets had been fired at the poor dog.

A Heartbreaking Discovery and a Search for Justice

Despite the trauma, Jackson’s story took a turn when local police sprang into action. Investigators found pellets lodged in a tree in Hayden’s yard, suggesting the shots had come from a nearby house. After searching the property, they found a BB gun and pellets and arrested the suspect, Tom Woodward, who had a criminal history but no prior charges for animal cruelty.

As the investigation continues, police are waiting for confirmation that the BBs recovered from Jackson’s body match those found at Woodward’s home. In the meantime, authorities are confident that he is responsible for the cruel act.

A Hopeful Future for Jackson

Despite the cruelty Jackson endured, he is showing signs of recovery. Hayden is optimistic about her dog’s healing process, saying he’s regaining his strength and is expected to be able to return to his playful self soon.

This heartwarming tale of Jackson’s recovery reminds us all of the incredible resilience animals possess. We wish Jackson a speedy and full recovery, so he can once again enjoy the backyard he loves, free from fear.
