Newly Released Footage May Hold Key Clues in Disappearance of 84-Year-Old Nancy Guthrie

Newly recovered security footage could provide important leads in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie. Authorities are urging the public to carefully review newly released images, hoping someone may recognize the individual seen near her home.

In the early morning hours of February 1, 2026, unusual activity was recorded outside Nancy’s residence in the Catalina Foothills. At approximately 1:47 a.m., her doorbell camera feed went offline. Shortly afterward, motion alerts were triggered, but no video was saved. Around 2:28 a.m., her pacemaker stopped syncing with her phone — a digital detail investigators believe may help establish the timeline of events.

When deputies arrived later that day, they observed signs of forced entry, damaged security equipment, and evidence of suspicious activity. Authorities have since confirmed that newly recovered footage shows a masked individual at the front door during the timeframe under investigation.

According to officials, the individual was wearing dark clothing, gloves, and a face covering, and carrying a backpack. The footage appears to show the person attempting to block the camera’s view before disabling it. Investigators describe the actions as deliberate. The roughly 17-minute gap between the camera disconnection and the loss of the pacemaker signal has become a central focus of the case.

Nancy, a retired teacher and longtime community member, had visited family the evening before and returned home safely. Concern grew the next morning when she failed to respond to calls and did not follow her usual routine. Her phone and medication were found inside the home, increasing concern due to her medical needs.

In the days following her disappearance, authorities reported receiving multiple communications claiming to have information. Some of those messages were later determined to be false, and unrelated hoax attempts have resulted in arrests.

On February 10, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released still images and brief clips of the masked individual. Investigators are asking the public to examine details such as posture, walking style, clothing fit, and accessories. Even small observations, they say, could help move the investigation forward.

Search efforts remain active, with assistance from federal agents, aerial support, and trained K-9 units. Authorities emphasize that the case is ongoing and encourage anyone with credible information to contact local law enforcement.

Community awareness and cooperation may play a vital role in helping bring answers to this developing investigation.
